You might not want to know this, but the intestinal system of the average human being includes about 2 to 3 pounds of bacteria, which outnumbers our bodies cells by approximately ten times.  Try not to be concerned, as without having it you would not have an immune system.  But still all that bacteria plays a role not just with your immune system, but controlling asthma and some allergy symptoms, eliminating toxic substances and help to increase your emotional health.  But in this piece we’ll discuss how but gut bacteria and weight loss go hand in hand, which will interest almost all of us.

Gut Bacteria Is So Vital We couldn’t Survive without it

When we normally consider bacteria we imagine sickness-causing microbes that invade our bodies.  There are without doubt plenty of those, but our intestinal tract is made up of a complex arrangement of microbes.  They’re not just bacteria, but fungi, yeast and protozoa that all do precise tasks for our health.  They are present in both large and small intestines.

Two of the strains of bacteria are firmicutes and bacteroidetes, and the pair dominate the gut flora for humans.  The combo of these two may differ with lean and obese folks.  It has been revealed that firmicutes bacteria come in a greater abundance in test animals that were overweight, and the amount of obesity was directly relative to the rates of firmicutes.  The specific origin seemed to be in the fatty acid absorption plus the capacity to transform calories from sugars into fats.

The bacteroidetes strain, on the other hand, was found to remain in higher levels for slim people.  It seems that if we will be able to transfer the balance in these two bacteria in our gastrointestinal tract it will significantly help to enhance weight reduction.  With tests even with modifications to the diet the balance between the two continued to be quite constant over time.  So does this imply the disparity with bacterial composition cannot be altered merely by changing what we eat?

The answer looks like not for the short term.  From a minor human study it had been discovered that in keeping with what we know people having fewer bacteroidetes (good) and much more firmicutes (bad) saw bigger weight problems than their leaner counterparts.  However when these overweight people went on a low-fat reduced-carb diet for greater than 1 year, a rise in bacteroidetes as compared with firmicutes was found.

Therefore diet can turn us round, provided we stick with it in time.  We could see improvements with our fitness and maintaining our body fat will be less difficult.  What would a few of these foods be?

1.    Organic food products.  Harmful pesticides and herbicides along with other chemicals may play havoc on your helpful bacteria.  Buy organic foods wherever possible, though some vegetables and fruits are especially susceptible to harmful pesticides if not organic.  Not only chemical substances which happen to be with food products, but all pollutants that get into the system are capable of doing harm.

2.    Fermented food products.  Sauerkraut, fermented vegetables and even pickles benefit gut bacteria.

3.    Probiotic foods plus supplements.  Yogurt has become a favorite, but there are many products such as Kefir that fill the bill.

4.    A generally nutritious diet.  This will include olive oil, fish plus flax seed oil, low fat protein, seeds and nuts, and of course every color of fruit and veggies.
