Detoxifying the Liver for a Healthy Liver

It’s obvious a healthy liver is essential for optimum health.  We’ll explain why detoxing the liver and a healthy diet are necessary for efficient operation of this vital organ, but it must be done properly.  Here we should distinguish between a detox diet and a detoxifying the liver cleanse.  A detox diet is a short-term diet, from three days to three weeks, which focuses on allowing the body in healing itself.  A liver cleanse, however, is a more intense flushing of the liver, and due to the fact that it puts more stress on the entire system, it should not be taken lightly.

On these pages we will discuss a healthy liver, and how to maintain its health both from a standpoint of getting back to a healthy state with a maintenance schedule through Diet and Exercise to keep you there.

Why a Healthy Liver is Necessary?

The liver is one of the hardest working organs in the body.  It is one of the largest organs, and performs on a daily basis over five hundred different processes.  A few of the functions we will deal with are:

  1. Removing toxins from the blood and filtering chemicals.
  2. Maintaining blood sugar levels.
  3. Aiding in digestion by breaking down food and turning it into energy.

These are obviously only a few of the functions of the liver, but they will be the ones we will focus most of our attention.  One of its main functions is to act as a filter, removing toxins from the blood.  When we were young, our liver operated at near optimum capacity, as it hadn’t had a lifetime of filtering these wastes from the blood.  But like any filter, over a period of time it became partially clogged.  That is not to say it stopped working, although in some that may be the case, but with most of us it just keeps working with a fraction of the efficiency it once had.  Its ability to process nutrients from the blood that the body must have becomes diminished, and to varying degrees passes these fatty acids into storage.  That storage area is for many of us around the waist.

What Can We Expect When Detoxifying the Liver?

Based on my detoxing the liver experience, here are some things I would suggest:

    1. Detoxifying the liver will defiantly put your body through quite a lot of stress.  Don’t start the process unless you are in a healthy state.  Especially if you have health issues, consult your physician as to your plans.
    2. Follow the directions closely.  Again, you will put your body through stress, so give it every opportunity to recover.
    3. I did it going into a long weekend, as the toxins released made me feel quite ill for about 2-3 days.  You probably won’t want to plan many activities.
    4. The rewards were well worth it.  My energy level was greatly increased, my general health was improved (although I am in reasonably good health as a rule), and especially I stopped catching colds, which I have usually had one or two bad bouts with colds a year.
    5. We highly recommend The Liver Detox Diet Plan, a tailor-made three level program will give you time to focus on your busy life while providing the desired benefits of  a healthy liver.

The process made me a believer that detoxing the liver is beneficial to a healthy liver.  As the Mayo Clinic states, “Without your liver, you couldn’t digest food and absorb nutrients, get rid of toxic substances from your body or stay alive.” On these pages we will provide information for you to make the best choices on how to maintain a healthy liver.
